Nyika Plateau: Imagine yourself alone in the world, with a zebra as neighbor’
The Nyika plateau is one of the finest places throughout Malawi. This nature reserve is located at 2300 meters above sea level with rolling mountains and fantastic scenery. It is only accessible by car via two dirt roads.
In the morning, right after breakfast, is the departure for a 2 hour long drive to the park entrance. We have a short break at the entrance. After that we will drive for 2 hours through the park to reach camp Chelinda. Chelinda camp has bedrooms with each 2 beds and has a campsite. If you choose for camping, we can take care of the camping gear.
Nyika is home to some unusual species such as roan antelope, wattled crane, the Red-winged francolin and several species of orchids. The animals are wild, so we can not predict what you get to see: elephants, buffels, a leopard, hyena or perhaps a jackal? Around the camp are always zebras, roan antelopes, mooses and smaller deers as the bushbuck, reedbuck and diver. In the south of the park is Fingira, where you can see petroglyphs and ancient Bushman paintings.
You can stay multiple nights. It is possible to rent bicycles.
