Matunkha Desktop Calendar March

Sometimes a picture does not need to be 100% sharp to be valuable. Like this one: a cheerful young boy, playing with an old bicycle wheel. Father, brothers, sisters and friends in the background in rural Rumphi. Where there is nothing, so everything that is redundant can be used as a toy.
In the past we had a small souvenirshop in the restaurant. Every item had a label, reading: “Pay, and let them play”. That is a close representation from why Matunkha ever started; to make villagers aware of the necessacity to have a “child-friendly village”. Back then there were lots of aids-orphans. Nowadays it is the unavoidable poverty because of continuesly problematic economical circumstances.
It’s a continues struggle, but together we can, even if its sometimes small, make a diference.
